Bimal Patwari is a Building Information Modeling BIM activist who has led BIM implementation in more than 4,500 projects across 34 countries. Recognized and awarded for his contribution to BIM technology,he has worked extensively with architects, engineers, contractors, and government agencies. He is recognized for his visionary contribution to the innovative use of advanced BIM technology to improve efficiency, provide fast turnaround and reduce costs for the construction industry. He has widely traveled and spoke at various international conferences like Autodesk University - India & USA,ASHRAE- USA,RTC-USA, Universities like Texas A & M, Engineering colleges like IIT’s & NIT’s and Global technology forums.
Until recently, the construction industry has suffered a technology bypass, relying on centuries-old processes to manage projects that are getting more complex and demanding faster execution. This class will discuss how Building Information Modeling (BIM) is making a shift by industrializing construction and setting up off-site assembly lines for manufacturing modules that can just be assembled on-site by a lean team. Case studies will be discussed from several iconic, global project executions where assembly line manufacturing construction processes were deployed for amazingly fast construction, reducing the on-site work, wastages, and costs. The main focus of this class is using BIM to support modular design and industrialized construction. Attendees will learn when and how to set up these assembly lines and the challenges associated with them.
