Modern Hydronics Supplied by Air to Water Heat Pumps

Air-to-water heat pumps represent an emerging market for hydronic heating and cooling pros. This session presents the basics of how they work, what factors influence their performance, and how they compare with other heat pump systems. It will also present schematics for systems applicable to residential and light commercial systems.


  1. Explain the fundamentals of air-to-water heat pumps and what factors influence their performance.
  2. Describe which hydronic heating distribution systems are best suited to these heat pumps.
  3. Accurately compare air-to-water heat pumps to other heat pump options
  4. Explain why air-to-water heat pumps will be an emerging market in North America.
